What’s New?

The biggest attractions for anyone purchasing the latest Buick Envision are a price drop and three additional trim levels compared to the 2016 model. The new base model starts at $34,990, and goes up to $36,795 and $38,645 for the Preferred and Essences respectively. The price tag increases on upgrades with the new Premium at $43,245 and Premium II at $45,885. The downside for fans of acceleration is the fifty-five horsepower reduction on the three new models, down to a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder engine from the Premium’s turbo.

Exterior Features

Chrome accents, the customary waterfall grille and smooth sculpted design are but a few of the features of the exterior of the new Envision. The doors have a fixed lift gate window, and there is privacy glass all-around. The rear is equipped with a hands-free power lift gate door, a rear window wiper and rear defogger. While the two Premium models boast nineteen inch wheels, the first three trim levels come with eighteen-inchers. Options include a satin chrome grille, molded assist steps and a wheel lock kit.

Interior Features

Consistent with General Motors in recent years, all five models come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto options and Teen Driver Mode. Standard even on the base level are a list of high-end features, including a rearview camera, heated front seats, and automatic climate control. Going up to the next level provides drivers with additional options of a panoramic sunroof, heated rear and leather seats and a blind-spot warning system. The spacious interior also has classy wood accents.

Technology

On the exterior are LED head and taillights but it is the interior where drivers will experience all of the conveniences of modern technology. The dash touch-screen measures eight inches and has a tri-zone climate control to keep all passengers comfortable. Connection for all devices is possible with Bluetooth, USB ports and Wi-Fi capabilities. Additional options include a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, a Driver Confidence Package and a navigation system.

Engine/Fuel Efficiency

The Envision’s DSXX platform is designed to provide less overall curb weight, resulting in greater fuel efficiency. The 2.5 liter, flex-fuel four-cylinder engine packed with 197 horsepower is expected to perform to twenty-seven mpg on combined terrain, or about twenty-three mpg in the city. The 2.0 liter turbocharged option offers 252 horsepower. It has an acceleration rate from zero to sixty in 8.4 seconds. The sleek design will max out at 130 mph.

Safety

General Motors designed this midsize crossover with safety in mind. For both comfort and safety, there are two front headrests and rear height adjustable headrests. Front and rear head airbags are standard, and for extra protection, drivers can opt for deployment notification. Confidence is restored with stability and traction control, emergency braking assist and ventilated front disc and solid rear disc brakes. Lighting is enhanced with dusk sensing headlamps and auto delay off headlamps. The vehicle also comes with a remote anti-theft system and child safety features, including seat anchors and safety locks.
