Safety is one of the biggest factors when individuals consider buying a new vehicle, so much in fact, many auto companies even create entire ad campaigns based on specific safety features of their cars. And while there are hundreds of new models for sale, only a handful can be considered the best new vehicles for safety. Listed below are five of the safest new vehicles available on the market.

The criteria considered for this list include the number of standard safety features, the number of innovative safety features, as well as recent safety and crash test ratings. This list includes cars and SUVs in the luxury and affordable automobile class.

Audi A4

Some of the standard safety features of the Mercedez-Benz GL Class include eight airbags, anti-lock brakes, night vision, blind spot monitor, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. Also, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety provided the Mercedes-Benz GL Class with a 'good' rating for ease of use of safety features.
