The 10 Craziest Vehicles Ever Listed On eBay

April 21, 2022

EBay is full of many wonderful things that most people do not need but are still inclined to buy. In rare cases, eBay has been home to many unique vehicle listings, such as a 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom One Dietrich Victoria Convertible Coupe in mint condition with complete history. Some sellers are even honest (or lying) about their scandalous ex-wife crashing their most prized possession during a bitter divorce. Keep reading for the ten craziest vehicles ever to be listed on eBay.

10. 1961 AMC Metropolitan

The Metropolitan was an American made car sold as an economy car or a subcompact car between the years of 1953 to 1961. This 1961 AMC Metropolitan is a mostly restored two-door hardtop that required some additional work. It has a bright red paint job and equally bright orange wheels that mean it is sure to go unnoticed wherever it goes. The year 1961 marked the last year of production for the Metropolitan, but sales continued until inventory ran out in 1962.

9. 1961 Ford Falcon Ranchero

Anyone searching for a part car, part pickup truck hybrid that is certainly not part of the El Camino family found what they were looking for when they came across the Falcon Ranchero. The earlier models were remodeled to be much smaller in 1960 after Ford decided to follow the compact car trend. This 1961 Ranchero has a 170 cubic inch 2.8 liter straight six engine with matte gray paint and bright red paneling. Aside from needing a car wash, it looks to be a good shape.

8. 1963 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop

Not many people would pass up the chance to own a 1963 Ford Thunderbird Hardtop if given a chance, but the color on this particular vehicle is enough to turn anyone's stomach. Although it runs and is visibly rust-free, the shade of pink on this Bullet Bird was a terrible choice, making it ultimately one of the craziest vehicles ever listed on eBay. Even a Nicki Minaj flamboyant pink would have been a better idea than the creepy shade of pastel used here.

7. 1967 Jaguar E-Type XKE S1

This slightly dinged-up 1967 Jaguar E-Type XKE S1 comes with a pretty sad story. According to the listing, the seller’s ex-wife crashed the car in a drunken rage, and therefore it did not run and needed its bonnet repaired at the time it was listed. Although there seems to be a lot of these stories floating around on the internet, there is no way to tell if this one was real or a plea for someone to take pity on him.

6. 1960's-Era Putt-Nik Go-Kart

Mario Kart lovers went crazy over the release of this 1960’s era Putt-Nik Go-Kart. It looks about as useful as ice cream on a cold day, but someone wanted this thing. Notable features of this masterpiece state that it works at least, which is not something everyone who lists their vehicle on eBay can honestly claim. Although it does not look like it was ever intended to be a replacement for someone’s daily transportation, it might have been a cool fixer-upper for a weekend toy.

5. 2005 Volvo S40R

The year 2005 was a good one for Volvo, it won the Canadian Car of the Year title as well as a nomination for World Car of the Year. This particular Volvo was prepped to be a World Challenge Touring Car Racing vehicle and would make an excellent addition to any speed addicts collection. The seller claims this 2005 Volvo S40R came equipped with lots of upgrades but chose not to list the specifics, making it a bit of a sketchy purchase. Sure, an interested buyer could reach out to inquire about the race-prepped qualities, but useful information such as that should have been included.

4. 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB F1

The only thing that could make a 2008 Ferrari 599 GTB F1 even more hip is a custom paint job, and this car had a sick one. Plus, it only had 14,090 miles on it at the time of listing! The 599 GTB features high-performance settings and engine software designed to improve accelerator response. Newer versions accelerate to sixty-two miles per hour in 3.7 seconds and have a top speed of two hundred and five, but it is probably safe to say that a 2008 Ferrari in good condition moves just fine.

3. 1969 Ducati 450 Scrambler

Anyone can buy a brand new Ducati, but finding this gem would have certainly made somebody's day. While it is not technically a car, this classic single-cylinder Ducati was almost entirely restored and ran well, making it a rare find. The second series Ducati featured a wider engine case than earlier models, with a maximum engine capacity of 250 cubic centimeters. It was also equipped with modified frames derived from Ducati factory racing motorcycles, that promised a unique ride sure to help anyone born in the 1960’s relive the days of their youth.

2. 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom One Dietrich Victoria Convertible Coupe

A vintage car lovers dream come true is to find a pre-war Rolls Royce that runs correctly and is complete with full history. Because of this, the 1927 Rolls-Royce Phantom One Dietrich Victoria Convertible Coupe likely did not sell without a fight. It features a 468 cubic inch inline six-cylinder engine with fifty horsepower and a three-speed manual transmission; anyone lucky enough to find one of these in such prime condition would be a fool not to jump on it.

1. 2002 RUF Beetle Turbo S

This 2002 RUF Beetle Turbo S is the only RUF Concept Beetle Turbo S known to man, making it high on the list of crazy vehicles eBay has ever had the pleasure of selling. The 225 horsepower 1.8 liters turbocharged Super Beetle was manufactured by German tuner RUF - who is well-known for working on the Porsche - this rare collector’s piece would be pretty magnificent to enjoy. Rumor has it that this vehicle was also listed on Craigslist.
