10 Cool Cars That Aren't Available In Canada

April 11, 2022

There are plenty of brands of European cars Canadians are free to enjoy, such as Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Audi, Jaguar, Bentley, Mercedes, and Volkswagon, just to name a few. While this list may seem impressive, it is not a realistic representation of the everyday vehicles the average citizen buys. Canadians need more station wagons, micro-cars, and fast yet affordable hatches or even a pick-up truck to meet the demands of daily life. Here are ten cars Canadians do not get.

Dacia Sandero

This subcompact car was co-manufactured by the French automotive producer Renault and the Romanian car manufacturer Dacia. It is known as the Renault Sandero in particular areas such as South America, Mexica, South Africa, Russia, and Egypt. Introduced in 2007, the Dacia Sandero is a cheap car that gets good reviews from the guys at Top Gear, who claim that its 1.5-liter diesel engine pulls well and that the vehicle is an overall charming and straightforward car that is a smart purchase.

Renault Koleos

The Renault Koleos is another European crossover whose design is based off the Renault Egeus and Koleos cars. Although it was awarded five stars in a crash test performed in 2008 by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC) of Germany, it was withdrawn from the United Kingdom in 2010 due to weak sales. It is about half the side of a Kia Sorento, and it comes with a range of 2.0-liter engines that range in power from 138 to 173 horsepower.

Suzuki S-Cross

Although Suzuki has not won over many fans in the past, the Suzuki S-Cross is an excellent vehicle for everyday city driving. It has a 1.4-liter Boosterjet Turbo engine with lots of high technical features such as a new front grill design, Apple CarPlay, and those sharp-looking aerodynamic European lines. It has a six-speed transmission and has decent fuel efficiency. Plus it comes with seven airbags and a Turbo prestige option with even more excellent details, such as a satellite navigation system and a keyless start system.

Renault Sport Clio RS16

The Renault Sport Clio RS16 has been referred to as the most hardcore and fastest little hatchback ever. It has a smaller and lighter body frame and a powerful engine with two hundred and seventy-one brake horsepower, making Renault’s fastest road car yet. Manufacturers are keeping it at a concept car for now, but do not be surprised if the French brand does not come out with a premium package. It tops out at 155 miles per hour, and drivers can expect to see a zero to sixty-two miles per hour timeframe in less than seven seconds.

Mitsubishi-L200

The MItsubishi-L200 has come a long way since its less than desirable clunky 1994 version. The series five features a sleek design with intelligent four-wheel drive ability that can be switched to two-wheel drive to save on gas. A single tank of gas can reportedly take its driver over 650 miles while its turning radius of 5.9 meters makes for incredible maneuverability. It has a brand new engine and a total load capacity of over four thousand kilograms. It also comes with trailer stability assist for secure towing.

Opel Adam

The Opel Adam comes with three different engine choices in Europe, but all anyone ever really needs is the three-cylinder turbo unit. It has 170 pounds per feet of torque and eighty-five horsepower, with a brushed-aluminum roof and pillars that look just like an Audi A1 from the side. In 2012, it was voted the number one city car by Auto Zeitung readers in Germany, and the German manufactured smart car won the Red Dot car Design Award in 2013.

Renault Twizy

Although it is legally classified as a heavy quadricycle in Europe and has a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour, every Canadian secretly wants one of these as a second vehicle to trolley around in. For only 3.5 hours of charge time, the Twizy gets around one hundred kilometers of range. Plus, it is heated, comes with a seatbelt and airbag, and is a much better option than a scooter. It even comes with a pair of gullwing doors for an ultra out-of-this-world effect.

Renault Laguna And Peugeot 508 Wagons

The Renault Laguna and Peugeot 508 wagons have a luxurious design that makes even the world’s biggest station wagon hater turn their head. The Peugeot gets slightly better fuel economy than the Laguna at seventy-two liters versus sixty-six liters, respectively. However, the Laguna is slightly more powerful and has better torque abilities. They both have the same five-door body design, a front wheel drive system, and a four cylinder engine with sixteen valves. While the Renault is the agiler of the two, the Peugeot wins because of its higher performance ratings.

Peugeot 5008

The new Peugeot 5008 has an upgraded look that ditches its old European people-mover design for a more American look. The seven-seater has plenty of interior room for families and reportedly drives like a much smaller vehicle. It comes with a variety of diesel engines and either automatic or manual gearboxes for the perfect fit, as well as low carbon dioxide ratings around one hundred and seventeen grams per kilogram. Pick the right package and enjoy a 62.7 miles per gallon fuel efficiency rating.

Citroen C4 Cactus

Some reports indicate that the Citroen C4 Cactus may have a distant coming to North America, so there is a chance Canadians may get to see it in person. With its unique “air bump” exterior design that can easily be switched out for a more modern look, the Cactus is the perfect car for everyday adventures. Top Gear also gives this one a thumbs up by calling the car one that has plenty to like for reasonable money. Nearly every version gets around fifty plus miles per gallon, too.
